Finally, Help for Smart American Businesses:
The Law-Abiding, Patriotic, Civic Minded
Main Street business makes
up the heart of America. If you're in business for yourself,
you know this better than most people.
Entrepreneurs
drive the economy. Small businesses create two-thirds
of new jobs, start 98 percent of new businesses, and account
for 40 percent of GDP.
But running a business takes
smart business practices. You have to attract and satisfy
customers, be better than the company down the street, stay
on the right side of the law, make sure all your T's are crossed
and I's dotted. You have to compete every day, and on some
days, it can feel like you're the Lone Ranger.
The last thing you need is
for the government to side with the corporate lawbreakers.
This includes things like government neglect allowing some
to gain an unlawful competitive advantage by hiring illegal
aliens.
Polls show the vast majority of business
owners don't sell out their fellow countrymen to make a buck.
A June 2006 National Federation of Independent Business member survey
found that 78 percent of small business owners support increasing penalties for employers who knowingly hire illegal aliens, while a June 2006 National Association for the Self-Employed member survey revealed that eighty-two percent of micro-business owners oppose offering amnesty to all illegal immigrants currently in our country.
It may not be readily apparent,
but massive immigration -- both legal and illegal -- has
a lot of adverse consequences for the country, especially
for small businesses. You end up paying hidden (plus not so
hidden) taxes to deal with the harmful consequences. To

In spite of media reports
about corporate corruption, most business owners are honest,
patriotic, and thoughtful. If you've read this far, then
chances are that you're that way, too. We trust you'll find
tools and information on this website that help you develop
even better business practices and make a positive impact
as part of the "silent majority" of American business
owners.
